The core Mission of the International Youth Orchestra Study Group (IYOSG) is to train and build a worldwide community of young musicians to fill the seats required by large or full symphony orchestras.
In the process these talented young musicians will meet and take dedicated training from professional musicians whose experiences are or has been as members of local and major symphony orchestras. This experience will take place during two-week summer encampments.
This formal and informal music education will serve the needs of all youth attending these encampments and work-study programs toward the goals of higher education and the understanding of the skills required of those performing in large or full orchestras that perform symphonic music.
The International Youth Orchestra Study Group is incorporated under the Pennsylvania Nonprofit Corporation Law of 1988 to promotes the education of the next generation of young musicians by the current generation of accomplished musicians, by providing advance training of young international music students by instructors from major symphonic organizations through short-term courses held primarily in the summer, including master classes, ensemble and full orchestra performances, tours of local music venues and public concert performances.
